CHALLENGE #9

.
.
Do we ever have a WONDERFUL challenge for you!!
.
.
.
*Create a Shabby garden on your project
*Include a quote from anywhere in the book ‘ Alice in Wonderland'.
As gardens are usually full of a mix a flowers you will need to include a variety of at least five flowers on your creation.
If you arent familiar with the book....
Let us introduce you to a well loved story ............
http://www.the-office.com/bedtime-story/classics-alice-1.htm
You dont have to do a creation based on this story - be inspired by it in any way you like! And let us know which chapter your quote come from!
HERE'S WHAT WE CREATED!!! (Sooooo fun!!!)

Chapter 1 where Alice (dd Paige) fell 'down down down' in a hole in the ground.
This was the beginning of her adventures!

The quote is from Chapter 2 where Alice is talking to the mouse about her cat Dinah although I changed thing to girl as I didn't think Leslie would like her daughter called a thing.
'She is such a dear quiet girl'

Jenneke 'Who cares for you?'

The last thing Alice says to the Queen, before she returns home..
My Alice says this to the spider.

The quote is from Chapter 3.
There was no `One, two, three, and away,' but they began running when they liked, and left off when they liked, so that it was not easy to know when the race was over
.
.
'I'm just a little girl'
Alice was talking to a bird in a tree
Chapter 8, The Queens Croquet Ground
`I see!' said the Queen, who had meanwhile been examining the roses.
`Off with their heads!' and the procession moved on, three of the soldiers remaining behind to execute the unfortunate gardeners, who ran to Alice for protection.

From chapter 7
Alice leaves the tea party, finds a tree, there is a door and says
"But everything's curious today. I think I may as well go in at once.' And in she went."

AND WE ARE SO DELIGHTED TO
INTRODUCE OUR NEWEST
DESIGN TEAM MEMBER!!
from Japan!!!
And here's a little about Yumiko:

My name is Yumiko Ubukata.
I live in Japan with my husband and four-year-old daughter.
I'm so honored to be one of this wonderful design team.
I started Scrapbooking in 2006 when my daughter was born.

I create layouts mostly about her.
At first I just made albums for her but I really wanted to make somethig more creative.
This was the beginning of Scrapbooking for me.
I find inspiration everywhere and I'm also inspired by other artists every day. Some people say
that my style is so unique. I would like to use not only Scrapbooking products but also everyday goods and
Japanese washi is used on my layout so often.
I'm looking forward to making many creations with you at Let's Get Shabby.
Thank you so much.

Yumiko
The quote I chose was the first part of this story . A scene that Alice found a rabbit in the first chapter. This is a story of her dream but I think Alice is curious about everything and this story unfolds.

Here's a little about Amanda:

.I was first bitten by the scrapbooking bug a little over 2 years ago when my son was 6 months old. Since then it has become a part of my everyday life. I have worked on various design teams over the years but now have found my happy place ….. a balance between teaching and designing for my local scrap store and running/owning D-lish Scraps. I saw a hole in the market for beautiful yet affordable embellishments and in July 2009 D-lish Scraps was born! We started out small but with a rapidly expanding customer base I am now beginning to design and manufacture D-lish exclusive products which has been a very exciting time. Nearly all my time is put into my classes and the store and I can’t imagine my life being complete any other way!!
.

.

and JUST for
'Let's Get Shabby' girls......
here's what else Amanda had to say!!!
.

there will be a free pack of Wild Roses for purchases over $15. All you need to do is add the code “Let’s Get Shabby” to the additional comments section and I will closely match a pack of roses that will go best with your purchase'.
.

TONI'S HEART TUTORIAL

It is that time again!
-
-
-
-
For one of the Shabby Girls' to share a tutorial.
And seeing it is the month of Valentine's Day,
Toni is sharing with us her stunning heart wall hanger

Here is a list and photo of what you will need

paper
card stock
cardboard
book page
glue
chalks
paint
decorative edge scissors
leaf punch
keyhole
lace
stick pins
buttons
flowers
letters

This was so easy to do.
First I cut a heart shape from my paper then chalked the edges with colorbox chalks.
Then I use an edge distressor to give the edges that ruffed up look.
I glued it onto white card stock and cut around that with decorative edge scissors.
I cut a larger heart out of cardboard, (I always save my boxes that come in the mail) and to make the top layer come off easier I made the cardboard damp and the top layer peeled right off.
Next I mounted my heart onto the cardboard and added the lace and holes in the top to add the lace for a hanger.
I then repeated the heart process for the two smaller ones that hang from the bottom of the big one.
I punched some leaves with a leaf punch, chalked and glittered them and had heaps of fun adding flowers and embellies.
I have another tip for you, when I cut things out that are real tiny I use cuticle sissors that have that bent tip, they work so well when cutting out small leaves & flowers.

-----------------------------------

Thanks so much Toni!!
We are looking foward to seeing more Valentine creations coming in.
Boy, we have been really rocked with what we have seen so far!!
Amazing!!
