INTRODUCING OUR SPONSOR AND GUEST DESIGNER

.
All of us Shabby Girls would like to welcome
.
Maxine's Melange

.
as our sponsor this month.
.
Maxine's Melange is an on-line boutique craft store owned by Maxine Hazebroek.
.
Here is a little bit about Maxine and her website.
.
I’ve been involved in the scrapbooking and craft industries for many years. I’ve taught classes in stores and conventions both nationally and internationally, and written magazine articles and a book. After many years of determining what people’s creative interests are, I now put all my energy, enthusiasm and ideas into Maxine's Melange. I try to inspire people’s creative abilities and get them to try something new. The products you’ll find at my store are different from most other craft stores, being unique and unusual items that compliment my popular creative project kits. These kits are a great concept for people of all skill levels, enabling you to create a project just like the original. The products are supplied with step-by-step instructions, including photographs. New kits are released each month, and you can sign up for my monthly newsletter to be kept up to date with new releases.

I confess to having a love affair with laser cuts. With over 250 different designs on offer, many of which are exclusive to my store, there’s bound to be something there for you. Another product I love is Collections Elements; you’ll find nearly the entire range of this great Australian product in the store.
.
For a unique experience, why not visit Maxine's Melange today?

.
.As part of this months ‘Lets Get Shabby’ promotion, this free embellishment kit will be posted to the first 30 customers who place an order.

Now before you rush off and order - wait until tomorrow (25th) when Maxine will have new lovelies just waiting to be uploaded!!

.
If you would like to see some of Maxine's work pop on over and check out her blog.
.
And stay tuned as Challenge 16 will be up tomorrow too!!

GINGHAM AND FLORAL DT CALL CREATION

.

.
When we were choosing which challenge to use as the second part of the dt call, we decided to go with the ‘Gingham and Floral’ as we felt that it had been one of our most challenging and it turns out that this may still be true!
.
We’ve had a few emails about clarification – and it could be a language difference as it happened just like this back when we ran this challenge.
.
The problem seems to lie with the word
‘floral’
.
Yes, you can use flower embellishments on your page and are not part of the criteria.

The focus needs to be on floral print patterns as in patterned papers and fabrics combined with gingham.
. This needs to be evident and a feature
in your dt creation for this part of the call.

If you have already submitted and want to submit again- please do! We would only need to receive your ‘Floral and Gingham’ creation with the work ‘Re-submit’ in the subject line if you feel the need.

Understanding criteria is very important at 'Let's Get Shabby' and we want to really see how your individual style creativeness and flair shines through it!!!
(very big smile!!)

DRESS-UP TUTORIAL by Mandy

.

DRESSING UP
.

I wasn't planning on doing a tutorial on this dress when I created my LGS LO, so please excuse the marks where I've pulled it apart and put it back together again for photographing the steps! LOL!
.
.
.
.
STEP ONE
Spray with music with mist
.
.
STEP TWO Cut out the skirt shape
.
.
STEP THREE
Place creases in the skirt
.
.
STEP FOUR
Repeat steps but cut the second skirt a little smaller.
I've faded the blue mist as I went down the skirt from darker to lighter
.
.
STEP FIVE
Cut this shape for the bodice out of the blue misted paper,
add a little gauze at the top of the bodice, and some red fine cord as a halter neck strap by attaching at the back
.
.
STEP SIX Glue the bodice to the inside of both the skirts
.
.

STEP SEVEN
Tie some cord around the waist
.
.
STEP EIGHT
Add some fabric around the halter neck strap and tuck under the waist cord
.
.
STEP NINE
Add a little bit of gauze to look like an underskirt or petticoat effect
.
.

STEP TEN
Attach some trim to the waist and let fall down the skirt.
Add some flowers
